Join us this morning at 10 a.m. for the third Sunday after Pentecost.
We continue with our online offering of Morning Prayer this morning at 10:00 a.m. It is said that Morning Prayer is a time in which we offer ourselves to God, through prayer, listening, and reflection. Over the next four weeks the Old Testament readings come from the Book of Genesis. This morning we hear of God's protection and blessing of Hagar and Ishmael when all seems hopeless. Psalm 86 is a prayer help in a moment of anguish, perhaps reflecting the thoughts of Hagar. Our reading from Matthew includes a number of sayings from Jesus to the disciples, telling them there may be a great cost in following him, but with an even greater reward.

Many parishioners will be familiar with Morning Prayer as a result of growing up using the 1928 Book of Common Prayer. Until the mid – late 1970’s, Morning Prayer was the primary Sunday service with Holy Communion celebrated once a month. The advent of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer (the one we currently use) established Holy Communion as the primary service on Sundays.
