Music is an integral and vibrant aspect of worship and parish life at St. Michael’s.

 

The voices of the congregation are lifted by Interim Music Director Christopher Wells, professional section leaders, and our choir. The parish also enjoys monthly Choral Evensong and an annual concert series.

 

Music Director

Christopher Wells is from Annapolis, Maryland, where he began his organ studies with James Dale at the United States Naval Academy Chapel. He received his undergraduate degree in organ performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music on the Dean’s Talent Grant. Christopher took his master’s in organ from the University of Michigan as a student of Robert Glasgow. As a recitalist, he has appeared in many venues across the country, among them Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Saint Thomas Fifth Avenue, and the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, all in New York City. He has recorded three critically acclaimed albums, aired regularly on radio and available on most streaming platforms. Christopher served as a full-time church musician for over 20 years as Director of Music at Christ Church, Cranbrook, MI and Christ Church, Bronxville, NY before relocating to the Boston area to pursue a new career in Construction Project Management. In his free time, he enjoys backpacking, sailing, skiing, and woodworking.
