Organ Concert Series: Raymond Hawkins
Raymond Hawkins is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, where he was a Kenan Organ Scholar. Raymond currently is the Director of Music at St. Michael's. He has given solo recitals across the country in venues, such as the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption in San Francisco and Adolphus Busch Hall at Harvard University. This program will feature work by Bach, Bruhns, Brahms, Barber, and others.
Organ Concert Series: Erica Johnson
Erica Johnson, DMA, is a Boston-based organist and church musician. She is the College Organist and Instructor of Organ and Harpsichord of Wellesley College and Director of Liturgy and Music at Sacred Heart Parish in Newton Center, MA. Erica is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory, Oberlin College, New England Conservatory, and the Eastman School of Music, studying with Haskell Thomson, William Porter and Hans Davidsson. As a grant recipient of the Beebe Fund for Musicians she studied an additional two years at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen, Germany, with Harald Vogel. Her years in Germany yielded two honors: the 2004 International Arp Schnitger Prize awarded by the Arp Schnitger Gesellschaft, and the 2002 NDR Musikpreis. More recently she has presented programs for the Westfield Center for Historical Keyboard Studies, the Göteborg International Organ Academy in Sweden, and recitals around New England.
Organ Concert Series: Damin Spritzer
Dr. Damin Spritzer, a native of Washington and Oregon, is Assistant Professor of Organ at the University of Oklahoma and Artist-in-Residence for Cathedral Arts at Saint Matthew’s Episcopal Cathedral in Dallas. She has performed in Israel, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Norway, France, and throughout the US, and released five critically-acclaimed CDs for Raven Recordings recorded in France, the US, and England. Her Doctor of Musical Arts degree is from the University of North Texas, her MM in Organ Performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, and her BM in Organ Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.

Carolyn Craig, of Knoxville, Tennessee, is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Organ Performance at Yale University’s Institute of Sacred Music where she has studied with Jon Laukvik and Martin Jean. Carina Brackin earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Organ Performance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, studying with Dr. Timothy Olsen. On June 2nd, 1937, French organist and composer Louis Vierne died on the organ bench while playing a concert at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris. This year on June 5th, our organist, Raymond Hawkins, will tempt fate by playing a program that features the works of Louis Vierne and his contemporaries, including the very last piece of music Vierne ever played. This concert is given in part to support the Greater Boston Food Bank and their efforts to assist our neighbors who are struggling to afford food during this uncertain time.

Peter Edwin Krasinski is broadly recognized as a motivating consultant for the pipe organ community, and as a conductor, organist and music educator, whose imaginative and energetic performances elevate and inform audiences. Along with regular concert appearances, he specializes in the art of live improvised silent film accompaniment, worldwide. On May 17 at St. Michael’s, Peter will improvise live organ music to accompany the film Grandma’s Boy, starring Harold Lloyd (1922). This film was highly influential, helping to pioneer feature-length comedies which combined gags with character development. This film was also an immensely popular, commercially successful film in its time. Peter Krasinski is considered to be the finest “silent movie” organist currently playing!

Concert Series: SongFest!
SongFest! A wide-ranging selection of beautiful songs and duets from North America, South America, and elsewhere. This program will feature St. Michael’s two multi-talented singers, Sarah and Katie, performing some of their favorite songs, with exquisite piano accompaniment by former Music Director Douglas Major. This is the fourth year this trio has brought their wonderful talent to St. Michael’s Concert Series, and it promises to be an afternoon to remember!
Concert Series: Mary Dolch
Mary Dolch is a New Hampshire-born organist, singer, and conductor. She has earned degrees from Westminster Choir College and Yale University, where she studied organ with Matthew Lewis and Thomas Murray, respectively. She has won several awards for her playing in both piano and organ, including The Charles Ives Prize in 2015 and the Joan Lippincott Competition for Excellence in Organ in 2014. She currently works at St. Paul’s School in Concord NH, where she serves as Associate Director of Chapel Music. She teaches organ, voice, and musicianship classes, and assists with the choirs.

While pursuing his studies there as a Kenan Organ Scholar, Raymond developed his career both as a church musician and performing artist. In the domain of church music, he served Augsburg Lutheran Church as music intern for one year before becoming the organist at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, both located in Winston-Salem. As a performer, he has given solo recitals across the country in venues such as the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption in San Francisco and Adolphus Busch Hall at Harvard University. Raymond is the newly-appointed Director of Music at St. Michael's.
