Join us this morning at 10 a.m. for Pentecost Sunday
The Day of Pentecost, coming fifty days after Jesus' resurrection, celebrates the infusion of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles and the church. Two different means by which the Spirit is imparted is shown in the readings. In the Book of Acts, the disciples are gathered in Jerusalem as directed by Jesus for the promised gift of the Holy Spirit. It comes to them in a great rush of wind and "as of tongues of fires." Dramatic and public! In the Gospel of John, it is much more intimate. The risen Christ comforts the apostles in their grief and fear, and breathes on them. "Receive the Holy Spirit," he says. "As the Father has sent me, so I send you." Both empower the disciples, and the church, to carry forth Christ's mission to the world.
This morning's service was recorded on Friday and Saturday morning, May 29, 30. Unfortunately we had some issues with uploading to youtube and the first part of the service will be a bit glitchy through the middle of the first reading.

Many parishioners will be familiar with Morning Prayer as a result of growing up using the 1928 Book of Common Prayer. Until the mid – late 1970’s, Morning Prayer was the primary Sunday service with Holy Communion celebrated once a month. The advent of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer (the one we currently use) established Holy Communion as the primary service on Sundays.
