Join us for Choral Evensong & Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. There will be a reception immediately following.
Our February service will feature the music of the great 20th-century English composer, Herbert Howells. The service will begin with his "Psalm Prelude" for organ based on Psalm 34:6 ("I called in my affliction and the Lord heard me and saved me from all my troubles"), followed later by his "Collegium regale" Magnificat and Nunc dimittis, and the anthem "Like as the hart." The postlude, his "Master Tallis' Testament," although it is not based on a specific tune by the composer Thomas Tallis, pays homage to his compositional style as found in the opening hymn (I heard the voice of Jesus say) and Phos Hilaron (O gracious Light) sung earlier in the service.
