Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
At least once a year, Christians are reminded of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe” (John 17.21). Led by the World Council of Churches, congregations and parishes all over the world come together to pray for their unity during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in mid-January.
Taizé at St. Michael’s will reflect on this year’s theme “You shall love the Lord your God ... and your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:27) through scripture readings, chanted song, and shared silence. Taizé prayer is based on the practice of the ecumenical monastic community in the village of Taizé in France. All are invited to share in this experience of God’s quiet grace. It is our hope that other parishes in the community will join us in this ecumenical celebration.
Taizé prayer encourages fellowship among Christians; this is the perfect opportunity to bring a friend to St. Michael’s!
