eNews – July 2, 2020
This is not a typical year. Due to the COVID-19 virus the Lobster Lunch was canceled, as was the Festival of the Arts. The Thrift Shop remains closed, as does church office and church to public worship services. The streets are quieter. Even so, there still persists a spiritual connection of goodwill, fellowship and participation at St. Michael's.
Haiti Partnership Fundraiser in lieu of the Lobster Lunch
As you know, the Vestry of St. Michael’s, per the recommendation from the Lobster Lunch Committee, has cancelled this year’s Lobster Lunch. This decision was made after much deliberation. Each year the net proceeds of the Lobster Lunch are donated, with half of these proceeds supporting our partnership with St. Thomas Church, Arcahaie, Haiti. The Vestry, with the affirmation of the Lobster Lunch Committee, has voted to undertake a special fundraising effort specifically for our partnership with St. Thomas Church and School in Haiti, with a goal of raising $10,000. This effort will take place through the month of July.
Lobster Lunch 2020 Cancelled
At its April 28 meeting via Zoom, the Vestry voted to cancel this year’s Lobster Lunch due to the ongoing protocols in mitigating spread of the COVID-19. The Lobster Lunch is traditionally held over the July 4 weekend. This year in lieu of our traditional Lobster Lunch, we will be holding a fundraiser for the St. Thomas Church and School in Arcahaie, Haiti.
