Bible Study during COVID-19 Isolation
Although our usual Wednesday morning Bible Study is necessarily suspended due to social distancing restrictions, there are several ways to connect with Scripture and with one another:
Prayer Books and Bibles from St. Michael’s Church:
Thanks to a kind gesture of Nan Dumas, we have a limited number of brand new prayer books and Bibles in the office. Please let us know if you would like one.
Online BCP and Lectionary Readings:
A downloadable Book of Common Prayer can be found also at the Episcopal Church site here and daily readings can be found at www.lectionarypage.net/
Way of Love Practice: Learn
Presiding Bishop Michael Curry invites the Episcopal Church to enter “into reflection, discernment and commitment around the practices of Turn - Learn - Pray - Worship - Bless - Go - Rest.” (Read Bishop Curry’s full invitation here, and watch a quick and beautiful overview video here.)
Bible Study at St. Michael’s has always been a “Learn” practice in our community: “By reading and reflecting on Scripture, especially the life and teachings of Jesus, we draw near to God and God’s word dwells in us. When we open our minds and hearts to Scripture, we learn to see God’s story and God’s activity in everyday life.” (Explore the Learn practice here).
In this time of necessary social distancing, how can we continue to “Reflect on Scripture each day, especially on Jesus’ life and teachings?”
