The Third Sunday in Lent
This Sunday, the 3rd Sunday of Lent we begin the liturgy with a Penitential Order, Rite II. The Penitential Order includes the Decalogue (the Ten Commandments) and the Confession, thereby moving the Confession earlier in the service. During Lent the "Gloria" (Glory to God) is omitted, replaced by the Kyrie Eilson (Lord, have mercy), and "alleluias" are absent as well. The changes point us to the love and compassion of God through our humbleness towards God.
Don't forget! We will have a service of Evensong THIS Sunday at 5:00 p.m. on our Youtube Channel.
Morning Prayer in Lent, 9:00 a.m., Tuesday - Friday
One of the rich traditions of our Anglican church heritage is the Daily Office. In the season of Lent, Fr. Andrew will offer Morning Prayer at 9:00 a.m. via Facebook Live, Tuesday through Friday. Following the lectionary for Year One, the appointed psalm and two lessons will be read. The lectionary list for Lent, Year One, begins on page 950 in the Book of Common Prayer. Morning Prayer begins on page 76 of the BCP.
St. Michael's Worship remains virtual through Holy Week.
Church Office and the campus are open by appointment.
Given Governor Baker's recent easing of gathering restrictions, many parishioners are wondering when we might re-gather for in-person worship. Yesterday our Bishops issued a Pastoral Letter with updated COVID-19 Guidelines. A copy may be found at by CLICKING HERE. Per their direction, St. Michael's will continue to offer virtual services only on Sundays and weekdays via our YouTube channel (Sundays) and Facebook Live (weekdays) through April 18 at least. Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter Sunday will be virtual. Meanwhile, the Church Office and the campus remain open by appointment for those who don't have access to the building. Please know our Bishops do not offer these guidelines lightly, and ground them in Christian moral theology. As they say in their letter, "We bear responsibility towards the well-being of others, especially the most vulnerable among us." While it is good news that more people are receiving the vaccination and infection rates, hospitalizations and COVID related deaths have been declining, we remain in midst of the pandemic. There also are growing concerns about new strains of the virus. Therefore we continue to be vigilant and patient, with gratitude if not a little weariness, and maintain the safety guidelines of social distance, hand-washing and wearing masks.
The Online Directory is now live!
The New St. Michael's Directory is now available through our website. Thank you to everyone who took the time to update your information! It is still a work in progress and we continue encourage folks to email the office with any changes or updates as needed. Because we want to protect personal information, the online directory will not be accessible without a password. We asked that you do not share this password with folks outside of the St. Michael's community, and we strongly encourage you to use personal devices (i.e. home computers, personal laptops, tablets, and phones) to access the directory. If you do use a public or shared device please remember to clear browsing data. If you'd prefer a printed version of the directory please email Kerry at the office. We are only printing copies by request. If you’d like access to the password please call or email the office.
